Sams Home Cooked Designs - Cards, Invitations, Small Gifts
Welcome to my Working Area - I will be talking about Whats Hot and Whats Not - that saying is probably not hot!!  And giving general hints and tips on the crafts that I know.  I don't think I know better than anyone else but I do think that Crafters can always learn from each other.
Tip of the week-Never think you have the Perfect Card - just think of it as better than the last one and not as good as the next one.
Please feel free to join in or ask any questions about Crafts.  You can do this by filling in a form on the Contact me Page or linking your blog to mine.

Designs you can really be proud of don't come round often, So make as many versions of it as you can to suit all tastes.  The mistake I made here was making it too personal with the text I added, i.e. Dad - some say Father, Daddy etc.  It should just have been left as Time to : Party, Chill, Accept Your Age, Lie about your Age - you get the gist!!!

NEVER - Put Archival Ink on your Breyer - even by accident like I did!! Nail Farnish remover pads does eventually get most of it off but not all.
LAYOUTS - You could say I am not the best person to advise you on layout - and you would be right!  Look at this box lid for instance, it was for a competition but I didn't enter it.  MY MISTAKE - although I work by eye and follow the design rather than pre-set it, on this occassion I should have thought about my centre-piece before I started to work.  As you can see, it got a little lost because I was trying to desguise some text in the centre and by the time I realised it needed a centre piece of its own, for me, it was too late, anything I added would look like it had been "added" rather than being part of the design. A quick sketch would have helped as this was a major competition and worth the extra thought!
